A Yorkshire Christmas

To help celebrate our wonderful home county, this festive season we’re talking about what makes Christmas in Yorkshire so special.

Members of the YTL team and our local clients will be sharing their stories about growing up in Yorkshire and what they feel really makes a Yorkshire Christmas.

We’d love to hear your thoughts too! Tell us what makes Christmas so special in your neck of the woods, especially if you’re from Yorkshire. We’ll be regularly updating this page with videos and quotes from our team and clients, so keep checking back!

A Yorkshire Christmas

Christmas Games

What better way to kick off our Yorkshire Christmas Campaign than to hear from our Managing Director, Phill Burke:

“UC lets you access video conferencing, instant messaging and integrated presence systems. Our UC Cloud service, powered by 3CX will help you to bring a new sense of collaboration to your business.”

Those Christmas Lights

When the days get shorter and the nights get darker, nothing beats going to see the Christmas Lights in town.
Our HR and Finance Manager, Sarah Hughes agrees!

“In Yorkshire we’re lucky enough to be home to some of the most beautiful towns and cities in the UK, places like Harrogate and York are even more stunning when the Christmas lights are up. It’s definitely worth braving the cold for”.

The Office Party

Nothing beats a cracking office party after a very busy year. From waiting outside in the early hours for a taxi, to the cringeworthy stories told in January, it’s always a big night here in Yorkshire and one we wouldn’t miss for the world.

We asked one of our long-standing, Wakefield-based customers Juice Recruitment about their Christmas party, and they didn’t disappoint.

Before you and your team head out on the town, make sure your call diverts are set up, handling customer calls after a few mulled wines is never a good idea!

Boxing Day football

Any committed football fans will know just how important it is to get behind your team during the difficult fixtures between the end of December and New Years, especially in the cold weather!

Operations Manager Adam Berry had this to say about his memories of Christmas football in Yorkshire.

“Christmas and especially Boxing day are very important days on the football calendar. At YTL we’re lucky enough to support many football clubs with their communications, so we’ve seen first hand just how great the atmosphere can be on a cold Boxing Day morning. Seeing Sheffield United thrash Derby on their way to promotion in 2018 was a brilliant experience.”

Christmas Markets

You’ve not lived until you’ve visited a proper Yorkshire Christmas Market. Whether you’re buying horrible Christmas jumpers or sampling the local Yorkshire tapas (sausage rolls & pork pies), there’s plenty to enjoy.

Our Technical Director Steve Kirby will always be out and about trying the latest local delicacies.

“Mulled wine, brandy, methanol, Yorkshire Christmas Markets will have it all. They’re great fun to visit with your mates and are the perfect place if you really don’t know what you’re getting someone for Christmas”.

Christmas Crackers with Rakusens

Today we’re talking about a different kind of Christmas Cracker. After a big Christmas dinner nothing beats getting out the wine and cheese (definitely including some Wensleydale), and at YTL we believe that no Yorkshire cheeseboard is complete without the inclusion Rakusen’s crackers.

Rakusen’s are one of our brilliant customers here at YTL and we don’t think there’s anyone better to give their thoughts on what makes a Yorkshire Christmas truly special.
